Meet Your Teacher:

Dr. Carly York

Carly earned her Masters of Arts Degree in Liturgical Music from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, with a focus on Choral Conducting. She went on to earn a second Masters in Music Degree in Voice Performance & Pedagogy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. As a lifelong learner and educator, Carly continued on to earn her Doctorate of Education Degree from Seton Hall University. Currently, she is on staff as the Principal Cantor at the Parish of St. Mary in Colts Neck, NJ. Dr. York is also the Manager of Education & Operations for the American Classical Orchestra in New York City. 

She has been featured on SiriusXM’s Sounds from the Spires with Dr. Jennifer Pasqual; the This is the Day show on CatholicTV; and has performed with the National Chorale at Lincoln Center for five Seasons. Through her professional recordings and her faith-based online community @CatholicCantor, she brings sacred music and prayerful biblical reflections to those seeking peace and deeper spirituality in today’s busy world.

Carly has over 20 years of successful college, university, and K-12 music teaching experience. She taught music at international schools in Beijing, China; Zurich, Switzerland, and the UN International School in New York City. Carly’s student have consistently excelled in music performance and enjoyment throughout her career.
