"I Heard the Voice" is a six-track album of Gregorian chant and sacred songs by Dr. Carly York, a professional Catholic Cantor in the Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey. It was recorded over the course of one year in both Sweden and the United States. It is available here now, and on streaming platforms from September 25, 2026.
The title names two voices. The last track, "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say," is the voice of the Son speaking to a weary soul. Track four, the chant "O Nata Lux de Lumine," sung on the Feast of the Transfiguration, holds the line vox paterna caelitus, the voice of the Father from heaven. This is the voice of God speaking to believers about the Son. That one line is why I recorded this very special chant. I am a convert to Catholicism, and music like this is what first called me into the Church. This is an album where the Father and the Son both speak, inviting us to rest in their peace and light.
